Our Poor Baby Girl Gretchen :-(

Our 12 year old boxer Gretchen gave us a scare last night. She was very cold to the touch and wouldn’t really respond to us. It ended up being a late night doing an emergency run to the vets where we found out she has some heart problems. Nothing really new to us. We went through it with our boxer Rudy before he passed away last year at the age of 12. We came very close to making the call to put Gretchen to sleep last night but opted to let the vet keep her overnight and see how she responded to medicine. I’m really glad we did. She’s doing pretty good today and is back home where she belongs. She’ll have to take meds every day for it from now on but like I said, we’ve been here before. As long as she’s able to move on her own power and isn’t in pain, we plan to keep her around as long as we can.  We can’t express enough our gratitude to all the vets and staff at Shawnee Animal Clinic for everything that they have done for all our babies over the years. They are the best at what they do!

Great July 4th Weekend!

We had a great holiday weekend full of bike riding, music, food, volunteering, fireworks & more bike riding! And you couldn’t ask for better weather either! Hated to see it end!

I won VIP tickets to see Exile & Lou Gramm at Summer Motion in Ashland, Ky on July 4th. It topped off a great day that started with a 25 mile solo bike ride that morning, then a cookout later on that afternoon and then finally an evening of music & fireworks.

A selfie while we waited for the music to start.

Saturday, July 5th, we went back to Ashland in the morning to volunteer for the ACE Time Trial race for Homeless Veterans. We followed that up with a visit to our friends DeNeil & Paul’s home to see the progress they’ve made on remodeling their home. Then it was a nice ride through Wayne National Forest home for a nap!

Sunday I went to ride the Summer Motion Bicycle Tour with my buddy Kevin. We were joined by another ACE club member, Tammie. The ride went pretty well except for Kevin’s unfortunate luck. The skewer on his rear wheel broke about half-way through the ride and he had get a SAG ride back to the start. Really sorry he missed the big climb back into Greenbo State Park! Tammie & I finished the ride. It was a great time!
